Dr. Laura Sheneman
Dr. Laura Sheneman is an education advocate who has coached and mentored hundreds of school librarians. Her interests include K–12 education, educator preparation, professional development, and instructional technology. Currently, Dr. Sheneman is a lecturer in the University of West Georgia’s Educational Technology and Foundations department. She also hosts an internationally acclaimed blog and podcast called The Librarian Influencers.
With the challenges that hybrid and distance learning have brought our students and families, summer break is the perfect time to reinvigorate a love of reading. Research shows that the dreaded summer slide, and now the more damaging COVID-19 slide, can be avoided by providing children with easy access to high-interest books in the comfort of their homes. Author Christina Jordan explores how educators can use Lightbox Learning’s Summer Reading Program to keep students engaged and actively reading throughout the summer.

Christina Jordan
Christina Jordan, author of the I Wish I Were… series of children’s books, has spent a lifelong career bringing diversity to education. She taught in the classroom for 25 years and has been a subject matter expert in the EdTech industry for close to a decade. Ms. Jordan holds an MA in psychology, focusing on child development. She has served as an academic advisor for several of the nation’s largest EdTech companies.
